i once lived in a small community in Surrey, where we had a community hall. one day i heard that there was going to be a country music show so i went down to see. i'm not sure exactly how or when i met Elmer, he was on stage, i stood at the back and listened to music that i never heard before and i loved what i was hearing, the sound of real country music. I would watch Elmer play fiddle and hear him sing with a voice that was beautiful. songs like dreams of a dreamer, fool of fools, charlie the trucker, never been to bed with an ugly woman, orange blossom special and my favorite, cleaning out the closets which i would ask him to play every night, and which he would. one day, i managed to get a cassette of Elmers tunes which i put away. over the years, as my life changed and i moved, up to vernon to pursue my life goals, or out to alberta to go to school, prince george to try my luck, back to vernon and finally to seattle. that first time that i saw Elmer play and fell in love with his kind of music was 28 years ago. i carried that cassette with me every place i ever lived. i still have that cassette and i still listen to it, ive guarded it like the treasure it is. in my most difficult times, ive played that cassette, listen Elmer sing cleaning out the closets and it takes me right back to that night, 28 years ago. What a gift i was given, to have shared in what so many of us out there have in our hearts, that is to have watched the King of Country music, Elmer Tippe, play his fiddle and sing us a country song like no one else can. God Bless you Elmer Big Les

Elmer, you are one of the finest gentlemen that I have ever worked with. I am proud to be your producer on "Cleaning Out The Closets", even though you made fun of me as a slave driver on your radio show. Take care old friend. Regards from Ed Jurak too.

I was searching the family name and found you. My dad talked alot about the Tippe's that moved to BC. It is great to catch some information about long lost relatives. I managed to see Rick a few years back when he opened for Charlie Major at Greenwater Park in central Saskatchewan. It was an awesome experience. All the best to all of you.
